What if child care felt less stressful and more like an experience your child actually looked forward to?
At Night Watch Childcare Center, our four-hour play blocks are designed to give children a safe, enriching place to grow, create, socialize, and decompress — while giving parents a little breathing room too.
For just $25, children ages three and older can join us for four hours of structured fun, connection, enrichment, dinner, and social-emotional support in a therapeutic childcare environment.
And honestly? The kids have an amazing time.
Each evening has its own special theme, almost like a mini enrichment camp throughout the week. Think of it like a blend of after-school club, creativity lab, sensory support space, and fun community hangout all rolled into one.
Monday nights are all about Garden Club.
This is one of our favorite evenings because it allows children to connect with nature in hands-on ways. Kids explore plants, dirt, flowers, gardening tools, and outdoor sensory experiences while learning responsibility and patience. Gardening is incredible for social-emotional learning because it naturally encourages calming, focus, curiosity, and teamwork.
We want children to dig in the dirt, touch leaves, explore textures, and enjoy fresh air. So many children today spend most of their time indoors or on screens, and we believe outdoor connection is deeply important for healthy development.
Tuesday nights feature Chesapeake Music Therapy.
Music therapy is powerful for children of all developmental levels, especially children who struggle with communication, emotional regulation, or sensory processing. During group sessions, children engage through rhythm, singing, movement, instruments, and interactive activities designed to build confidence and communication skills.
Wednesday nights are our TV Production Nights — and the kids absolutely love this one.
Children naturally want to create content, perform, dance, act, and express themselves. Instead of ignoring that reality, we provide a safe, closed-circuit environment where kids can experiment creatively without being exposed online.
Using laptop cameras and simple recording tools, children can create puppet shows, mini plays, dance videos, pretend talk shows, and creative skits. Nothing is posted online, and recordings are deleted afterward. The goal is not social media fame — it is confidence, creativity, communication, and fun.
Thursday nights focus on movement, balance, and sensory support through occupational-based activities.
While we do not provide formal occupational therapy services during this time, we use games and activities inspired by occupational therapy techniques to support fine motor skills, balance, coordination, independence, and body awareness. Families with children struggling with independent toileting or sensory challenges often find these evenings especially helpful.
And Fridays?
Fridays are our Dance Party Fridays.
The LED lights come on. The music starts. The glow sticks come out. The kids dance, laugh, move, and celebrate the end of the week together. It is joyful, energetic, and honestly one of the happiest nights in the building.
At Night Watch, we believe children deserve spaces where they can safely be themselves. Our play blocks are not just “babysitting.” They are opportunities for children to build friendships, practice communication, explore creativity, and feel supported by adults who truly understand them.
And for parents? Sometimes four peaceful hours can make all the difference too.
